A7 roadworks to support Center Parcs Scottish Borders development

Center Parcs has provided an update on forthcoming roadworks on the A7 between Hawick and Selkirk as construction progresses on its new Scottish Borders village.

A7 and new Center Parcs entrance

Access to Center Parcs Scottish Borders, both during construction and once the village is operational, will be from the A7. Work is therefore required to create a new junction and make changes to the existing lay-by near the site entrance. Initial work has been taking place behind safety barriers in recent weeks.

From Monday 24 August until Friday 25 September, temporary traffic lights will be required on a limited section of the A7.

To allow essential work to be completed safely, overnight closures of the A7 will also be required from Monday 7 September until Friday 11 September inclusive. The road will be closed between 7.30pm and 6am each night. A diversion route will be in place.

Paul Hogarth, Community Liaison Officer for Center Parcs Scottish Borders, said: “We recognise that these works, particularly the overnight closures, will cause some inconvenience for road users and local communities. We will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum and thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding.

“These improvements are essential to provide safe access to the new village from the A7, both throughout construction and once Center Parcs Scottish Borders opens.”

Monthly community drop-in sessions continue to be held at the Borderlands Deep Tech Accelerator Hub, formerly Borders College, on Buccleuch Road in Hawick.

The next session will take place on Thursday 27 August, from 10am until 4pm. No appointment is necessary, and anyone with questions can also contact Paul Hogarth at [email protected].
