Center Parcs launches weekly community drop-in sessions regarding Scottish Borders holiday village planning application

Center Parcs is set to launch weekly drop-in sessions in Hawick, providing local communities, businesses and groups with the opportunity to learn and engage further regarding the plans for a new holiday village in the Scottish Borders.

Paul Hogarth, Center Parcs community liaison officer

The sessions will be led by Paul Hogarth, Center Parcs’ Community Liaison Officer and a familiar figure in Hawick and the wider Scottish Borders.

The drop-in sessions will be held every Tuesday between 10am to 1am and 1.30pm to 4pm in the Hawick Business Centre at 10-12 Oliver Crescent, Hawick, TD9 9BQ.

Paul will be on hand to help answer questions and provide more information on the planning application to Scottish Borders Council, which went live earlier this month and is currently open for public comment on the council planning portal.

There will also be a range of boards on display and Paul will also be able to assist with queries on any other aspects of the company’s plans.

Paul Hogarth, Community Liaison Officer at Center Parcs, said: “This development is a big talking point in the Borders. As it has done with other holiday village developments, most recently in Longford in Ireland, Center Parcs was keen to ensure that local people could continue to engage and have their questions answered whilst the planning application progresses.

“By hosting drop-in sessions, we hope it will make it easy for people to come and speak with us. Whether it is a detailed question or someone just wants to pop in for five minutes and see what’s going on, we will be here. We also hope it will be beneficial for anyone who may experience difficulty finding the information they need on the council portal.

“We received valuable feedback at the pre-planning consultation events and we are keen to ensure that the public are kept well informed.”

If consented the proposed £350–£400 million development will create a year-round family destination, bringing significant tourism, employment and environmental benefits to the region.

The development is expected to support between 750 and 800 jobs during the construction phase and create approximately 1,200 permanent roles once operational, the majority of which will be filled by local people.  Center Parcs offers long-term career opportunities across a range of sectors, including hospitality, retail and village management.
